Read this page before your first session.
Mute Motion is real training equipment, not a toy. The setup keeps you lower and moving more slowly than most mountain features, but that does not make it risk-free. You can still fall, get injured, or damage property. Train within your ability, and use the equipment only as instructed.
Understand the risks
Snowboarding and jib training involve risk. Practising at home does not remove it.
Falls can cause bruises, sprains, broken bones, dental injuries, concussions, or other serious harm. No board, binding, bar, mat, or piece of protective equipment can eliminate every risk.
By using Mute Motion equipment, you acknowledge those risks for yourself and for anyone you allow to use your set.
Who can use it
- Maximum rider weight: 100 kg (220 lb). Do not exceed this limit.
- Riders under 16 require active adult supervision. The adult must be present and paying attention.
- Riders should be able to link turns comfortably on snow before practising rail tricks at home.
- Talk to a doctor first if you are pregnant, recovering from an injury or surgery, or have any condition that may affect your ability to train safely.
- Never train while impaired, including by alcohol or any medication that affects your balance, coordination, or judgment.
Prepare your training area
- Leave plenty of open space around the Balance Bar. You need room to step off or fall without hitting anything.
- Check the space above you. Lights, beams, shelving, and garage door tracks must be well clear once you are standing on the equipment.
- Move nearby hazards. Stay away from furniture, glass, workbenches, stairs, drains, and exposed shelving.
- Choose your surface carefully. A flat, non-slip floor makes for the most stable setup.
- Make sure the area is well lit.
If you cannot create a clear fall zone, train somewhere else.
Wear the right equipment
Wear a helmet whenever you are learning or practising an unfamiliar movement.
We also recommend wrist guards. Knee pads, elbow pads, and impact shorts add further protection during repeated practice.
Always wear shoes that fit the bindings correctly and fasten securely.
Train responsibly
- Progress gradually. Start by balancing on the board, move on to static presses, and only then attempt slides.
- Practise stepping off under control before attempting anything you may need to exit unexpectedly.
- Have someone nearby when you try something new.
- Stop when you get tired. Fatigue affects balance and reaction time.
- Do not modify the equipment. Modifications may make it unsafe, and they void the warranty.
- Use the equipment only as intended.
- One rider at a time.
If children are using it
Riders under 16 must have active adult supervision. Stay close enough to step in if you need to, and do not leave the set where a child can use it unsupervised.
Require a helmet, and make sure younger riders follow the same progression and the same safety rules as everyone else.
Care and replacement
Keep the equipment clean and dry. Store it indoors, away from prolonged direct sunlight.
Inspect every component regularly. Stop using any part that is cracked, badly worn, or damaged by a hard impact, even if it still looks usable.
If you are unsure about the condition of your equipment, stop using it and email us clear photos.
